This is the last painting I did in 2024 on a cold December day. I was inspired by the works of Jess Allen and how she paints sunlight through how it interacts with everyday objects. At some point, she once said, “The sunlight makes the inanimate come alive”, which resonated with me. I was drawn to how the sunlight illuminated the dark wood of this chair and revealed its robust red hue.
