Adults don't spontaneously play outside as kids do. At least in my experience, adults only run or engage in exercise and sports, but not for the sole purpose of playing. The act of running has a whole different connotation for adults than for children. I believe if there weren’t shame or awkwardness around adults enjoying the outdoors in an adolescent fashion, there would be more people indulging themselves.
To embody this idea, a friend and I took a camera outside with us, and we ran around, did handstands, cartwheels, and jumped. The figures in this painting are a result of some of the images we captured.
