16×20, Oil on Canvas, 2025
#FNL is a simpler, more resolved painting that reflects my nostalgia for high school. The title stands for Friday Night Lights, and the hashtag refers to the posts that filled Instagram during those games. The feet are borrowed from the film Grease - the leather pants and heels are unmistakably from that world. The work explores what the high school experience was expected to be, but often wasn’t. There’s an unsettling feeling here: the goal post is too small, and the memory doesn’t quite fit the myth.
